Accuracy starts with the soundtrack
Use solo piano or a clear piano-focused recording and avoid loud speech, audience noise, clipping, strong reverb, or other instruments. Video resolution does not improve the MIDI result.
What the editable MIDI contains
The result stores detected piano notes, timing, note duration, velocity, and optional sustain pedal data for review in a DAW or MIDI editor. It does not contain the original piano tone or video frames.
Privacy and retention
Uploaded piano audio/video is removed after processing. Only the MIDI result is kept for no more than 24 hours for guests or 90 days for registered users.

Can I convert an MP4 to MIDI?
Yes, when the MP4 contains a clear piano-focused soundtrack. MeluMimi transcribes the audio track; it does not identify notes from the video frames.
How accurate is piano video to MIDI?
MeluMimi is optimized for high-accuracy piano transcription, but results still depend on audio clarity, reverb, performance complexity, and background sound. It is not a piano-separation tool for a finished full mix.
Does the converter read the pianist's hands?
No. It transcribes the video's audio soundtrack. Camera angle and image resolution do not affect note detection.
Can I upload a long concert video?
Paid credit packs support videos up to 10, 15, or 30 minutes, but every file must remain under 80MB. Trim the authorized section when needed.
Which sustain mode should I choose?
Use With sustain for connected pedal performances. Use Without sustain for shorter note boundaries and detailed MIDI cleanup.
